Compressive strength and microstructure evolution of lime-treated silty soil subjected to kneading action

چکیده
Long-term improvement in behaviour of soil subjected to lime treatment depends on the mechanism its implementation. In-situ lime-treated fine-grained is often ‘kneading action’ developed by Pad-foot roller. The underlying effect kneading remains less investigated. Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) and microstructural modification compaction are evaluated. Kneading action undergoes better lime-dispersion during compaction. This feature accompanied with available water favours long-term pozzolanic-reactions hence enhanced UCS evolution, particularly kneaded compacted at Wet Moisture Content (WMC). Lime-treated WMC, which slightly higher than Optimum (OMC) beneficial for evolution specimens longer accelerated curing. laboratory accelerated-cured a similar level as average measured in-situ 7 years atmospherically cured soil.

Chemo-physical evolution and microstructure features of lime treated soils
In the paper some results on the effects of chemo-physical evolution of clay-lime-water suspensions on the microstructure of a lime treated kaolin have been presented. A multi-scale investigation on the sedimentation behaviour of clay suspensions under different pore water chemistry has been developed highlighting the chemophysical mechanisms controlling particle arrangement and the soil fabric...

Stabilization of the silty sand soils which cover large areas of Iran and world is inevitable as their geotechnical properties are weak. In this research, the effects of different contents of lime and pozzolan admixtures on compressive strength of silty sand soil were investigated. To do this, different treatments were prepared by adding five levels of lime including 0, 1, 3, 5 and 7 percent by...

Keywords: Shear strength Microstructure Single-shear lap joint Intermetallic compound (IMC) Aging a b s t r a c t The effects of isothermal aging on the microstructure and shear strength of Sn37Pb/Cu solder joints were investigated. Single-lap shear solder joints of eutectic Sn37Pb solder were aged for 1–10 days at 120 °C and 170 °C, respectively, and then loaded to failure in shear with a cons...
متن کاملMicrostructure and rheology of lime putty.
The rheology of lime binders, which is critical in the final performance of lime mortars and plasters, is poorly understood, particularly in its relationship with the microstructure and colloidal characteristics of slaked lime (Ca(OH)(2)) suspensions (i.e., lime putties). Here, the contrasting flow behavior of lime putties obtained upon slaking (hydration) of soft and hard burnt quicklimes (CaO...
